BORACAY AFTER FIVE YEARS

I haven't been here for a long time, and nothing much has changed except more and more construction, and more rubbish, smellier pathways, thousands of vendors etc etc. The same thing happens all over the World, but most other countries at least try to put some money back into the basic infrastructure, here it all dissapears into pockets....billions and billions of pesos, and not one rubbish bin along the whole 6 km stretch of beach!???

At least they've taken the bloody bangkas off the beach now, but the green slime still remains in places, courtesy of non existent sewage treatment, there was a time they blamed visiting yachts for this, but now they've thought of something really stupid to say about it - 'the green algae is there to keep the sand white', how about that for imagination?

However, my friend Adam has a lovely little resort up one of the pathways, called Villa Sunset.
More like a Spanish Villa, with only 8 apartment style rooms overlooking a small but very clean swimming pool with a little waterfall.

No restaurant here but they have the menu from my favourite dive shop/bar - Calypso Divers, and so the food is delivered from them to the resort. It's also very well built to a high standard and inside the rooms, it's very quiet, no chickens or tricycles around....

Adam, Michelle, (holding a Broadwater Marine beer cooler), and myself had a great 20 minute tour of Boracay, taking loads of photos, in the helicopter seen below with the ground crew, there'll be a photo gallery soon on our website, link to the right, so have a look and follow our 2000 mile trip more closely on the same site.

Here'a typical sunset from the Cocmangas bar area, they all seem to be pretty good, and the skies are clear and the sailing is great to watch from the beach during the day. The Presidents Cup Regatta is on at the moment, unfortunately I'll miss the final party as I'm leaving very early on Friday to pick up Sean 60 miles East of here, to continue our trip to Bantayan Island, Malapascua and then on to Cebu and Bohol, over the next three days.

That's it for now as I'm having trouble uploading more photos, next update from Alona beach, Bohol
