BEATEN BY AN INJURED SCOTSMAN

Bruce Curran, a.k.a.Brucie, financial whizz, author, bangka safari operator and erstwhile motorcycle rider, spotted recently at our favourite pool venue, -------, by myself, the day he was due to go to hospital to have plates and pins put into his shoulder.

I was trounced fair and square, he obviously plays too much pool, with not enough practice on his motorcycle, since he decided to try and hold back all the traffic recently on Makati avenue by riding straight across 2000 tons of fast moving vehicles. Alas.

However his next break after beating me didn't go quite so well.....

I've been in Manila for a couple of weeks now, catching up with friends and mates coming back from Europe for the next tourist season. It's pretty quiet down in Bussuanga right now, so I'm staying with my good mate, Sean, the fishing guru, who shares a similar lifestyle and writing style as me, although his blog is much more professional. Have a look at www.manley.de for some good stories, and a great photo of the beautiful Grace.

Here's a pic of Sean in the Dominican Republic, wearing El Rio y Mar shorts from our resort, having a joke with a fish!

There've been a lot of parties and late nights and today will be no exception, since Burrell is having one of his afternoon barbies, which tend to go on for a few days!!! I don't know how lovely Susie puts up with all these shenanigans...

Another good time was had recently when the glitterati descended en masse to inspect the facilities at James Simpson's new PALAWAN CENTRE (not centER, you're English Simpson, not a yank!!!!!!). Have a look at www.palawancenter.com for the site which will be completed soon I hope. Better yet, visit them, for a great showcase for Palawan, at the second level of the building at the corner of Paseo de Roxas and Pasay Road. The beer is cold, snacks are available and it's air conditioned with an internet area, and , I believe, 14 companies represented already with their stands. James also publishes the Palawan Community News, a glossy newspaper with stories from Palawan alone.

Here's a few glitterati pics:-

Lastly, for this edition, spotted recently at a local gas station, returning from David Stone's peaceful hieaway, Maya Maya Yacht club, see www.mmyc.com , was a stand selling these revolting looking sandwiches. Has anyone ever tried such combinations??????

What could they possibly taste like at a cost of 30 us cents........
