NEVER SAY "NEVER"...

A select group of local friends, including Arne who took this photo (sorry to miss you Didi, I know you were there in spirit), gathered in a sunny small town square to witness the previously unthinkable.......Tequila Mike got married, he found someone wonderful and cast many of his ideals to the wind to marry Michelle. Slightly younger than this ageing beach bum, she has brought a sense of order and calm to his hectic existence living from hand to mouth for the last 30 years.

A future is planned which involves WORK, and a possible business in the South West of France should the work be financially rewarding enough to get my idea up and running.

Yes, this Summer has changed many things for me, I'm fitter, healthier, slimmer, mentally refreshed, married and I have some money in the bank.........I have missed the Island life but not the rainy season and all that entails. So, I think that for the sake our sanity and finances, all rainy seasons will be spent working until I have enough saved to start a Summer only operation in France. This will involve fine wines and gourmet food, and that's all I'll say until I can get it off the ground.........

Here's a couple more photos.

Having only drunk 2.8% alcohol beer for the last three months, I ended up with a hangover for the first time in a long long time on Saturday morning. San Miguel paid me back for my deserting him for so long.....

However, 8/8/08 is supposed to be a very lucky day, Michelle chose the day since it's an Asian belief that numbers are lucky when involved in life. Lunch was in a small restaurant overlooking the river in Laholm and the day was fairly sunny. Sunny enough to jump on our bicycles later on and spend a drunken evening with Mike, Liz and Thomas and Danish Mike (that's 3 Mikes' out of 6 people..), down at their farm, watching potatoes grow and drinking strong beer. Apparently my bicycle was a demon on the road back to our car park, don't remember much about the ride home actually..

The staff at El Rio also enjoyed a couple of cases of San Miguel on me the night of our wedding at the same time we got married, hope there were a couple of hangovers there too....

Work goes on in the factory, another six full weeks I believe, to earn a small stake. I've opened a Swedish bank account and that is where the money will sit I hope, until we come back next year to bump it up a bit more.. I need a bit to finish the little bits and pieces necessary for getting my lovely yacht 'Blue Dolphin' back into good shape, then we'll do a little bit of sailing around our area I hope, with an engine working this time in case of zero wind.....

In the meantime, Staffan has lent me his Ducati for sunny days if we get any, and we hope to visit Arne and Didi again before we leave.

Barbecues are an evening event every night it's nice, this one is perfect for two, but saw a reaaally nice stainless steel one for sale today, it'll wait till next year.

Although Michelle still likes the odd small pizza now and then..........????!!!!!!!!!!!

Michelle has a Swedish residence permit now since her Schengen visa ran out at the end of July. This is, I hope, accepted for our return journey through Denmark and Germany to our Frankfurt departure point for the Philippines. I've checked in as many locations as possible and even the German Foreign Office says a Schengen country residence permit is acceptable for other Schengen countries, but it's still a worry for me. At least we know we're welcome here in Sweden if it goes wrong, we'll just come back and fly from here.......

Hopefully there'll be another blog up before we leave, thanks to everyone who sent their best to us via mails and phone calls, looking forward to returning to Island life soon, but this was the
best thing I've done for a long time, work and marriage, that is......

Take care all my friends, and wish us well.

Tequila and Michelle
